Can I still convert images webp if hosting does not support webp upload? | WordPress.org

Looking to upgrade to Pro, the hosting company do not support webp upload, will I still be able to convert images to webp inside of plugin? I currently have webp images in media folder uploaded with previous hosting company

The Pro version of Smush now includes Direct Local WebP conversion, enabling WebP images to be served to supported browsers without requiring a CDN or preconfigured server setup. Additionally, the Smush CDN can serve images in WebP format directly from our CDN servers.
