• Hello,

I’ve searched the forums for information concerning the role WordPress plays in database creation.

I’m trying to update my WordPress to 1.5 and I just deletes all the files on my website and uploaded the 1.5 files and changed the settings to connect to my same database. I logically thought that WordPress would recognize the tables and information from my database and recreate the blog entries based on that. However, when I do that WordPress says that it’s already installed here, but the index.php page is blank. I then backed up my database, created a new one, tied WordPress to the new blank database, in which WordPress tried to install on the new blank database. If it installs on the new blank database, there are no entries, obviously because it’s created brand new empty tables. I’m not really sure what is going wrong here. I guess I want to know why I can’t replace all my files to the 1.5 version package and keep the same database plugged in. Why does it go blank? Is it because there possibly are more .php files that need to be reconfigured that I’m not catching?

    Bobby
