    I demand answers.

And I shall tell you of my tale:

So there I was, frustrated that the comments weren’t working at all. As in the comments weren’t showing up, there was just empty space in where they were supposed to show up. So, I installed a plugin (Sexy Comments) that messes around with my comment section. It to my utter surprise, actually worked. However, when I added comments.php to my theme directory, the whole thing disappeared. That confused me to no end.

Still not understanding the issue, I came here searching for answers as to why this was occurring. None dared to give me a solution. Not even the Codex would provide me reprieve from this horrid problem!

And so, I ask of you WordPress nerds:

what the hell’s up with the comments.php in this strange case?

  • So you added comments.php to your theme … but what did you put in it? If it’s empty then you ain’t gonna get no stinkin’ comments.

It was supposed to have a ready-made comment template from this handy tutorial, but nothing showed up at all. I even made a thread about it but nobody answered it. As of now, I’ve deleted the comments.php template because I was so frustrated that nothing was working correctly. The comments are working perfectly, however, I want to customize the comments.php template further.

One problem: I’m a complete n00b at PHP. I do know about the includes and the Loop WordPress uses though.

I seen that template and is for WordPress 2.7 and we using using 3.0 so there are changes made since that tutorial

All I can say is upload that comment.php back I am using twenty ten theme.

Have tried switching to twenty ten theme see if you are having same problem could be is theme related.

    Thanks a bunch, govpatel!

I finally solved my problem, turns out that the template didn’t work well for 3.0+. Finally, I’ll get on with life!
