Hi,
Thanks for the heads up. We are going to fix it in the next couple of days.
Update your plugin to the version 3.3.68 to fix it.
Hi thanks for the update,
I’ve updated to 3.3.68 but don’t see any options to remove the nofollow attribute in the plugin and the html still has nofollow for each link as far as I can see.
https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/sassy-social-share/tags/3.3.68/includes/class-sassy-social-share-sharing-networks.php
Let me know what I can do, thanks
The file you have mentioned in your post contains the social share icons not the social media follow icons.
Yep they still contain nofollow attributes on the links
Let me know the URL of the web page where you have integrated the social media links.
Appears on clicking ‘share this article’: https://www.synextra.co.uk/knowledge-base/exploring-alternatives-to-vmware/
The main issue really is the copy url and email links which contain href attributes to the same page and nofollow values.
Thanks
Social Share icons are supposed to be nofollow and social media follow icons are not.
Ok but currently they are causing internal links to be nofollow too for icons such as these:
’email’ => ‘<a aria-label=”Copy Link” class=”heateor_sss_button_copy_link” title=”Copy Link” rel=”nofollow noopener” href=”%post_url%”‘
‘Copy_Link’ => ‘<a aria-label=”Copy Link” class=”heateor_sss_button_copy_link” title=”Copy Link” rel=”nofollow noopener” href=”%post_url%”‘
Which having internal links that are nofollow is an SEO issue and gives a confusing signal to Google.

These are social share icons and are supposed to be nofollow. We are telling Google these links are not for SEO purpose. No confusion. Period.
Ok. This will be flagged in SEO audit tools such as Ahrefs and Semrush as an SEO issue (internal links are nofollowed).
Telling google that links to your own pages that you want to be indexed are not for SEO purposes is definitely a confusing signal, whether it has any effect or not on SEO isn’t clear but it’s not something I’d like to risk when it should be an easy fix. It’s basically like saying you don’t trust links to your own pages. I don’t think there is ever a reason to nofollow internal links, even ones like these.
Thanks for getting back to me but I will have to look at moving to another plugin if this cannot be resolved.
You can install plugin from this link for now. We will fix it within the next 48 hours.
No problem. This has been taken care of in the version 3.3.69.
