    My clients website keeps automatically switching TEST MODE on. Why does it do this?

    This causes massive issues with their customers. Can you help?

    Are you able to share the interval at which the site switches back to TEST MODE?

    Also, do you remember making any changes before the issue started, such as updating or installing plugin(s)?

    I’m guessing it happens after updates. But is that normal?

    This is not normal, the plugin should not switch to test mode after an update.

    From what I understand this happened with more than one website, correct?

    Do they have any similarities (besides using Stripe)?

    Furthermore, I’d like to understand the sites properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further.
    You can share from one or two sites so we can compare them 🙂

    System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.

      I will monitor when the site needs updating next.

      • Does this happen after updating the Stripe plugin only? I will need to wait until the next update.
      • Does this happen after updating the WooCommerce plugin as well, perhaps? I will need to wait until the next update.
      • Does this happen after updating any other plugin by any chance? The last updates, I pushed all updates at once.
      • Do you run the updates automatically or manually? I manually update the plugins and website.
      • Do you use any third-party plugin or service to manage updates? Nope, I have switched all the options off with the hosting company.

      Sounds like a plan, please keep an eye out on the behavior, as that is not how the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway should behave.

      As you’ve also mentioned that you manually update your plugins and website, which is a good practice as it allows you to control when and what updates are applied. This can help prevent potential conflicts or issues that can sometimes occur with automatic updates.
