Woocommerce – legacy templating?

Apparently after the few last woocommerce versions they moved to block-system editing and when you install the woo plugin the pages come with predefined blocks in their text content. Is there a way or a setting for me to use the legacy templating system because right now I cannot override any templates because of this block frustrating bulls**t crap.

why are they constantly making the dumb users life easier and us developers lives harder?

We understand your concerns about the transition to block-system editing. This change is meant to make the platform more user-friendly, but we appreciate that it may pose challenges for developers used to our legacy system.

In order to override templates, you can still use hooks and filters. However, if you prefer the legacy templating system, you can disable the block editor for WooCommerce pages. To do this, you can use a plugin such as the ‘Disable Gutenberg‘ plugin.

Okay thank you for your response.

Another thing is that woocommerce keeps strange cache on the template overrides and I have to switch to another theme and switch back to refresh the override templates that woocommerce sees. The clear template cache tool doesn’t work.

WooCommerce itself doesn’t include a built-in caching feature.
The caching you’re experiencing is likely due to a caching plugin or a server-side configuration.

To help you further, could you please share your System Status Report? You can find it by navigating to WooCommerce > Status and clicking the Get System Report button.

Once you have it, just paste the report here, and I’ll take a closer look at your server setup to provide more specific guidance.

I understand that cache is disabled on the site but you are still facing cache-like issues.

To better understand the issue, could you list the specific steps where you’re encountering the cache on template overrides?

I just copy the template files from the plugin folder to my theme/woocommerce folder, or delete files from there, but in the WP dashboard nothing changes until I change the theme

When you want to override a WooCommerce template file, your theme must run the same hook as the template file. It seems like your theme might not be running the necessary hooks, which could explain why you’re not seeing changes reflected in your WordPress dashboard.

To troubleshoot the issue, ensure your copied file has the same directory path as the original file in the WooCommerce plugin folder. Also, head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

WooCommerce transients – Clear
Expired transients – Clear
Clear template cache – Clear
Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
Clear customer sessions -Clear

Next, please clear your browser cache and check again.

If this makes no difference, you might need to contact the theme’s developer for further assistance. You can also seek help from the following:
