The Automatic Upgrade Plugin has been discontinued ever since its functionality was added to WordPress with version 2.7.
You’ll need to access your server via FTP or SFTP, make sure your FTP or SFTP client is set to view hidden files, and delete the .maintenance file that is in the same directory as the wp-load.php file.
Once you’ve regained access, I recommend deleted the Automatic Upgrade Plugin ASAP.
my wp-load.php is just in the /public_html but i can’t seem to find .maintenance. it’s either it doesn’t exist or it’s hidden. i tried using the cpanel and ftp to find the file but to no avail.
You need to set your FTP client to view hidden files, or find an FTP client that can be set to view hidden files.
What happened to the Site Stats when I upgraded to Word Press version 3.0.2 – they have disappeared. I know that the articles are being viewed but the STATS have STOPPED!
Farmer Jim, try deactivating and deleting the plugin, then reinstall it.

I did that and I only found .htaccess. No .maintenance
In that case, something else is stuck, probably brought on by the massively out of date plugin.
First, try manually resetting your plugins.
If that doesn’t work, I’m afraid you’ll have to re-do the upgrade manually.

Manually resetting the plugins thru phpMyAdmin didn’t work. Will try upgrading manually
