    Hi

    I have set up my website using the twenty ten theme
    harjminhas.com

    However i am having difficulty in adding content to the sidebar

    I want to add my own pictures with links coming from them and possibly videos.

    Can you let me know where i can get the information to be able to do this

    Use a Text widget via Appearance -> Widgets.

    Can you cut and paste pictures with links as you can do on the pages or is it just HTML here?

    Is this the same for a video?

    You have to use HTML in the Text widget – for images, links & videos.

    I wondered if you could change the sidebar background colour to say a light grey? Is this possible?

    It is possible but your customisations will be over-written the next time you upgrade WordPress or the theme. For this reason, it is recommended that you consider creating a child theme for your customisations.
