Blocking not spam
-
Hello there!
Over the last two weeks your plugin is blocking a lot of people from downloading my lead magnets, thus impacting my business.
It never occoured before, but now the issue is clear. Is there a way to solve that? Did you change anything in your plugin?
Thank you!

Hello @russiainpillole,
Every 2 weeks we release an update for our plugin that contains any changes. To find out exactly what the reason is, we need to check your web form. Could you send us a link to your web form?
Hi Dmitry!
Sure! What’s a web form and how can I give you access to it?
Hello @russiainpillole,
We need to test your website if it’s protected from spam as it should be. To do that, we need to know what page is being spammed. If you don’t have any pages where your visitors can send their data, then could you give us more details of how we can repeat the issue from our side?
If you don’t want to tell more details here on this support forum, then please create a private ticket:
https://cleantalk.org/my/support/openHi!
It’s happening on many pages of my website: russiainpillole.com. At the end of virtually every article, visitors can donwload a scheme of the article while also subscribing to my mailing list. Unfortunately, over the last two weeks, many cannot do so because they are seen as spam.
Thank you for your details.
I looked through a few website requests that are marked as “Not Spam” and tuned the filters for the website you mentioned. Moreover, I see that the plugin Speed Optimizer is being used. Please, clear your website cache.
Now the issue should be fixed. Did it help you?
Is there a way to not block users that come from Italy?
Hello.
We do not allow completely whitelisting the entire country, this may cause a bunch of spam requests.
Hi!
Unfortunately people still have problems in downloading my lead magnets and get blocked. This is the message they receive, maybe it will help you solve the problem: “Forbidden, enable JavaScript.Anti-spam by CleanTalk.”
I relaxed the filtering rules some more. That should help.
But let’s deal with the cause. It consists in incorrect parameter transmission by the plugin. Please do the following:
- WordPress Admin Page → Settings → Anti-Spam by CleanTalk → Advanced settings →
→ set the “Set cookies” option to “Off”;
→ set the “Use Anti-Spam by CleanTalk JavaScript library” option to “On”;
→ Save Changes. - Set the cache update time on the site to no more than 24 hours (if it’s possible).
- Clear all the cache on your website.
Earlier we have already recommended you to set the “Set cookies” option to “Off”. Could you clarify why you changed it again?
Hi!
I changed the settings as you advised, let’s see if it will be better now! I don’t think I’ve changed that setting myself, maybe it changed with new versions?
We do not forcibly change plugin settings when updating it. The values of options can be changed only during reinstallation. But the default value of this option has not been changed for a long time. In theory, you may have a third-party plugin installed that changes the option value of our plugin.
Please observe for a few days and inform us about the result.
Hi there!
Unfortunately , the problem persists!
Hello @russiainpillole,
Could you please mark a few records in the anti-spam log?
- Your Anti-Spam Log [ https://cleantalk.org/my/show_requests ] —> choose your website in the drop-down menu —> there are buttons “Spam” and “Not Spam” under every record —> mark records using these buttons.
The guide is here: https://cleantalk.org/help/feedback-spam
Then write to us.
Hi!
I did it!
Hi,
I don’t see any issues since you changed the cookies settings to ‘Off’. Requests you marked have problems with parameters, and cookies settings were not set to ‘Off’
- WordPress Admin Page → Settings → Anti-Spam by CleanTalk → Advanced settings →
