When you have a native Category Page in WooCommerce the products that are out of stock will receive that indication across the product image. For reference, this is how that looks on this page of our website:

I have created a custom page to use as a Category Landing Page. I used Woo’s native block editor to build this page, Using a mix of specific product or tags to create the groups I’d Like. Here is how that looks.

    Custom 22 ARC Category Page

Screenshot of those same products, which do not show the out of stock behavior. Products from WooCommerce blocks.

Is there a way to show the stock status of these products across the product image? I am aware that I can hide out of stock products, that is not what I am trying to achieve.

I have searched and googled high and low and have found others facing this dilemma but have not seen any solutions or workarounds.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @coppercreek

Which block did you use to show product lists, product by category or product collections? For better assistance, can you provide a video showing how you created this page?

For video, you may use https://loom.com or https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/. Please follow the instructions on that page and then paste the URL into this thread.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Here is a screen recording showing how the page is setup, the live view of that page, and the native behavior of WooCommerce. As you can see the block editor does not show the native out of stock as built into woo.

Not sure if that will embed, but the link to this video is here:

    Thank you for your help

    Hi @coppercreek

Thanks for sharing that video explanation!

I gave it a try too, and it seems we’ve hit a limitation. However, considering it’s a crucial feature, it should be available by default.

It would be great, if you could create an enhancement request on our GitHub repo here. So that, our developer team take a look and share some further insights.

In the meantime, you can customize these blocks using custom code or use an additional block plugin to achieve your goal.

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this provides some clarity on the matter. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Thanks!

I have submitted to github, I am shocked that this issue has never been unearthed before….

    Hi @coppercreek,

Thank you for taking your time and making a request on GitHub.

We constantly rely on feedback from users like you to help us identify and fix any potential issues with the WooCommerce core plugin.

Rest assured, now that you’ve submitted it on GitHub, our developers will review it and work on a solution.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

    Hi @coppercreek,

Thank you so much for submitting the report here. I wanted to add that this also depends on how your theme displays things (the out of stock image on top of your products is part of your theme).

For instance, I just tried this with Storefront and used the products by tag just the same as you did, and I intentionally set a product out of stock, I noticed then in my case the button changed from “Add to cart” to “Read more” for single products (looking at your video in detail I can see this is also the case).

For variable products I still see the “Select options” text on the button, which is misleading as they’re all out of stock. This should indeed be fixed. I just wanted to share some more context about this enhancement request for our devs. I’m also adding my comments to the Github issue and closing this thread in favor of the Github. We can continue the discussion over there.

    Cheers!
