• I currently purchased my own domain and want to add WordPress on it. I bought HostGator as my web hosting. I went thougth Fantastico De Luxe to install WordPress. I followed all the instruction on the screen, but when I try to go to domain/wp-admin, it says “The system cannot find the file specified.”

I’ve tried uninstalling and installing again, but no luck.

What am I doing wrong here and how can I get started with my site?

  • Hello, I have just had the exact same problem so would be equally interested in a response to this. Only difference in my case is that it’s the 2nd installation I have done, as I successfully installed on a website last week but this time it’s not working. So don’t know if that has an effect.

    Look forward to a response.

Thanks for the reply, but I’m not quite sure what exactly the problem is.

-have you tried contacting with your server if the database server is online / if they have problem at their end, or they made any changes to your account.

    Or any limitation/restriction, etc.

    Hello

I solved my problem by changing my nameservers. This is because I have 2 domains running on same hostgator account so the second domain has to have the same nameservers as the first domain. I had to change the nameservers through namecheap which is where I actually bought the domains rather than hostgator who is hosting the domains!

I am not sure if it will be the problem in your case if it’s only your first site, but it’s worth checking I guess if you haven’t yet solved your problem. The livechat guys talked me through it.

    Cheers
    Veronica
