How to duplicate WordPress.org blog

    I have a WordPress blog on version 2.9 that I want to DUPLICATE and then install in a new directory. (And then upgrade to 3.1 obviously.)

    I saw a WordPress help article that was for MOVING a blog to another directory but not duplicating. Moving won’t work because I want to be able to access both blogs simultaneously.

    Is there a help article that explains this? If not, could someone give me a basic description on how to do this?

    That’s not really a MultiSite Questions (MultiSite is running multiple wordpress sites from one installation – like running your own wordpress.com)

    But.

    1) Copy your 2.9 install into the new folder
    2) Duplicate the database (either export it or just use phpMyAdmin’s duplicate tool, if you have access to that).
    3) Edit the database to point to the new location
    4) Edit the wp-config.php file to point to the new DB
