The Directory theme is great, and has lots of control over custom blocks, and uses Template Parts to define things like archive items, which I like.

But what if I want to completely build the Archive Item from scratch, using a page builder or similar design tool? Are there any options?

I tried using Oxygen Builder to build that part, but I couldn’t find a way to tell GeoDirectory to use it. I also checked your tutorials for Bricks and Kadence etc, but they didn’t talk about designing every little detail like this.

As an FSE (Full Site Editing) theme, all templates and template parts, such as the Archive Item, can only be built using the WordPress editor.

You cannot build it with an other page builder…

Thank you. I’m struggling to understand what my options are, if I want more control over every detail than the Directory theme allows.

For example, Kadence and Generatepress allow lots of layout control, but it’s not clear how I would build things like the Archive Item with those tools. Similarly, builders like Oxygen and Bricks offer lots of control, but I can only see how to build the entire Single and Archive templates. I want to build the “template parts” with advanced layout tools.

    I hope that makes sense.

With Blockstrap themes, Bricks, and Elementor, which are fully integrated, you edit the templates from within the editor/builder.

With all others like Kadence or Generatepress, which are compatible, you edit the pages: GD Archive, GD Archive item, and GD Single using their tools.

In GeoDirectory Settings > General > Pages you can assign new pages as templates if needed.

Let me know if you have other doubts.

Even the parts like “GD Archive Item List Square”, “GD Archive Item Image”, “GD Archive Item Simple”, and “GD Archive Item Image”?

Is it possible to edit those areas with Elementor, Bricks and Generatepress?

The GeoDirectory Settings > General > Pages only seems to refer to the overall page templates, not those parts above.

    Thanks

I can see in your docs that Elementor Pro allows for editing these parts (see previous message), but I’d like to know if it’s possible with other options like Oxygen, Bricks or Generatepress.

    Thanks

With Bricks you can pull the custom field data and use their elements like with Elemntor, with Oxygen or Generatepress you can’t and have to use GeoDirectory blocks or shortcodes

That’s great, thank you. I now plan to buy Bricks and GeoDirectory specifically for this. Do you plan to keep supporting Bricks for the foreseeable future?
