Media Editing Role

    At one point, using the free version of PP, I had edited the Editor role to allow specified users to edit media items (titles, descriptions, etc.). It worked. Then it didn’t get used for a couple months, now it doesn’t work.

    When a user with the Editor role tries to edit a media item, it just takes them back to the page they just came from. No error, just won’t take them to the edit screen.

    Any idea how I can get this working again?

    Hi @steel-rat

    Thanks for using PublishPress Permissions.

    If you did not change anything and out of sudden it does not work, maybe this issue is not coming from our plugin.

    Also from your description, there is no such feature that could cause it.

    Maybe start check this if there is any plugin conflict here by deactivate the plugin one by one.

    I can’t really do that on a production site.

    Could you tell me, then, how I would setup such a role?

    @steel-rat From your description, it seems you will need PublishPress Capabilities. Here is more details about it: https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/control-media-library-access/

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have Capabilities installed, but did not have Permissions. So I installed that, and went through the information at the link you sent. Still have the same issue. The user is kicked back to their profile page when attempting to edit a media file.

    @steel-rat As we mentioned in the first reply, the behavior that you mentioned does not seem caused by our plugin.

    You could start investigation by deactivate one by one the plugins.
