Gallery and e-commerce intertwined into CMS

I have an artist who wants a web site created where he can showcase AND sell is art. What themes/templates and plugins do I need to install to help me accomplish the following?:

Manage art pieces – upload photos of piece and create thumbnail (or I can upload it manually), add description, dimensions, weight, media type, materials used, for sale or gallery item and price if for sale.

Display art pieces – “print”, “installations” and “sculptures” would need to be in the global nav each showing their corresponding art pieces. the home page shows thumbnails of recently added art pieces and when a thumbnail is clicked it takes the user to the detailed page of the art piece. The detail page will have additional full photos of the item (in lightbox style hopefully) and the detailed info mentioned above. If its for sale then Buy/Add to Cart button is displayed and that’ll take ’em through the e-commerce/shopping routine.
