When new users are trying to register for an account any any of my WordPress/Woocommerce based sites protected with ‘Wordfence‘ the receive the following message:

‘REGISTRATION ATTEMPT BLOCKED: This site requires a security token created when the page loads for all registration attempts. Please ensure Javascript is enabled and try again.’

I have turned on ‘Learning mode’ in Wordfence to temporarily fix this but how do I stop this from happening when our firewall is active?

    Thanks, Craig.

Hi @craiggp, thanks for reaching out about this.

If they do indeed have JavaScript enabled in their browser, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a case of this come up. Ultimately, it means that no CAPTCHA token was submitted with the request, but there is a variety of ways that could occur.

It could be that the reCAPTCHA script and/or our JavaScript is failing to load, or our script can’t find the appropriate form to add the token. I may need to ask quite a few questions so bear with me.

Are you using the latest version of Wordfence (7.11.5)? Are you using the default WooCommerce or WordPress registration page, or a custom one? Have you checked whether the reCAPTCHA key you entered in Login Security is correct for your domain (and that WooCommerce integration is enabled if you’re using it)? Finally, are you seeing any red errors in your browser console when the page loads, or during the attempted submission of the registration form?

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

I see the this way too often….
