recent comment widget appeariing on wrong page

When i drag the recent comment widget to sidebar the recent comments are appearing on my comment page instead of the theme opening page when people log into my blog. I want them to see the recent comments as soon as the log in and not through the comment page when they click comments . Is there an adjustment i need to make on the recent comment options ?
