stuck at step 2 — error 405

    When I clicked to “continue to step 2,” the following error message appears:

    405 Method Not Allowed
    The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /~ec_wcy/blog/wp-admin/install.php.
    ——————————————————————————–
    Apache/1.3.28 Server at ihome.ust.hk Port 80

    I’m not sure whether the hosting supports PHP. Here’re what it says:

    “MySQL database support is provided as a pilot service for iHome users. With the support of running PHP programming language (as a CGI program) on the iHome server, you can write programs to access MySQL database to enrich your Personal Home Page.”

    Could anyone help? Many thx!!

    That’s an unusual error to recieve. It looks as if you cannot use the POST method to send data to the server. Your best bet would be to contact your host with all the pertinant data and see what they come up with. And yes, id does look like they support PHP – otherwise the install wouldn’t have worked in the first place.

    It’s an environment issue. I suspect that the web host needs to setup Apache to properly parse and execute php files. See POSTnotallowed

    The host is provided by my college for free. I’ve asked them and their reply was completely irrelevant. Anyway, thanks for your help, Tg and ifelse!
