OK…I’m using a theme that has a Feature Slider for recent posts (I’m sure everyone is familiar with that). In it, there is a “More” button. Also, I have inserted a “more” tag in the actual body of the post.

However, when I click the “more” tag, it takes me to a page that says “not found”.

    Any initial thoughts on this?

OK…back to this issue now. My site is http://www.tandem-solutions.ca

Whenever I click the “more” link, it goes to a “Not found” page

    Any thoughts?

you have Website Maintenance Mode so can not see your website.

I’ll take it off maintenance tomorrow because I still have to re-install my prefered theme…check back in about 12 hours…

    Thanks!

OK…back to the issue. I took the Maintenance off the site.

I have my options set to a “static” front page which is title “Welcome”. I have set my “post” page to my “HR News” page. Now, this theme offers a Feature Slider. I have a “category” named “New” and it draws from that. All looks good until you click on the “more” tag (in the slider or the message) and it jumps to another screen that says “Not Found”.

Any thoughts….remember, I’m still kinda new!

That is because the link on Read More is wrong it points this url

    http://tandem-solutions.ca/www.tandem-solutions.ca

you can you have your url twice.

    (@tbaker14)

OK…so what should the URL be? Do I have to make an individual page for each single post that I make and link the “more” to it? That doesn’t make sense. I thought the page that the posts are on was the page that it links to.

The post’s “permalink” shows the URL as the one you stated above.

    I’m confused.

yup something is definitely hosed here….

things I would check in this order:
permalinks: what do you have in there? Is it valid?
if so, set permalinks to default, test your site, if its good, set back to custom

next in general settings, do you have your URLs proper? Not entered twice accidentally

Finally, test site with no plugins active

it must be set on the plugin that is sending that slides.

    Nope…you’re wrong! hehe

I just figured it out…I had the “permalinks” set to Custom…but I changed it to Default…and now it’s all good!!

    Thanks!

looks like is working fine on default permalink so it must be custom permalink causing the problem.
what did you have in custom permalink to cause the problem.

also, be aware that your permalinks setting may have been fine, sometimes WP gets goofy and does that, and you have to set permalinks to default and back to custom to fix things

    guess….

    …I had tandem-solutions.ca

I put that in before I knew what I was doing. I don’t know much about the permalinks, but it works for now…I’ll learn as I go…
