I have tried all the options in the plugin, bulk smush, even manually smush the images in my library, and again I get 0% Images optimized in the media library according to Smush Pro, and re-check images finds around 1000 files, starts bulk smush, never finishes. What can I do to make this thing work?

  • Hi @perelovski

I hope you are doing well today.

In the first place check your server resources like max_execution_time (we recommend 300) and memory_limit (we recommend at least 256M).

Another thing to check will be browser console errors and see if any exist.

This issue could be also a plugin conflict. Would you please run a conflict test? Please deactivate all plugins except Forminator one and check if the problem is gone. If so, then enable all plugins one by one and find which one is having a conflict. If there is no positive result, switch to the default WordPress theme like 2019, and see if it works. Before this test, we recommend full site backup or running this test on the staging site.

Please let us know about the results.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

Hello. I’ve done all those things. Nothing helps. Bulk smush in this moment: 38/1428 images optimized. But few hours later, it doesn’t even show those 38 images as smushed. It asks to re-check images. After the check, again 1428 images need smushing. And again nothing. 0% Images optimized in the media library. And again, and again. Any other suggestions to try? Thank you.

    Hi @perelovski,

Hope this message finds you well, and sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue.

Could you add this line in wp-config.php file?

    define( 'WP_SMUSH_SCAN_SLICE_SIZE', 500 );

Just above the line that said //That’s it stop editing.

Please be careful when editing this file and make sure you have a copy of it before performing the changes.

Let us know the results after that.

    Best regards,
    Laura

    Hello,

I’ve added the line, but nothing changed in the Smush. Sometimes gets to 8, sometimes to 60 images out of 1428, and says “Feel free to close this page while Smush works its magic in the background.” But whenever I open the Dashboard, it says 0% images optimized and 1428 images need smushing, starting again from 0. I have toggled the settings, and with CDN without Local WebP and vice-versa nothing changes. Also I deselected Optimize and Backup original images thinking that would speed up the process or something else but nothing happens.

Any other suggestions to try? Thank you.

    Hi @perelovski,

Just to be sure, are you using Smush Pro or the Free version of Smush? It sounds like you are using a Pro version. Please note that this forum is only meant to support the free version of Smush.

If it’s a Pro version, please open a new ticket via WPMU DEV forums so that we can investigate this issue much faster.

Please clarify if I’m missing out anything.

    Kind Regards,

Hello and my mistake, I didn’t notice that, sorry. I am using the Pro version of the Plugin. I will open ticket to their support. If nothing works, I will get back with the free version of the plugin 🙂 Thank you!
