Spectra and Astra sucks. It started having problems with Woocommerce after I finished designing the whole website. It was already so annoying with ‘Pay for this feature and pay for that feature’.

I decided to keep eveything raw now. So I installed Bootstrap Theme and wanted to keep Gutenberg as my Builder.

But guess what. Mr. Spectra comes in out of nowhere and overrides every Gutenberg Global changes.

So heres what happens. I change the styles of Button in the in the site editor and when I save the changes and check it on the site, those changes gets overriden by Spectra styles.

Now if I have to change the buttons of every page I built, then it will take me a lot of time.

So, is there anything that can help me , “Replace the Spectra blocks to Gutenberg Blocks.

I mean, replace/swap. I don’t want to write any additional CSS or anything.

    Hi @maasi121,

I’m no official support and I may be wrong, but I’m afraid that the Spectra plugin uses its own block for buttons. It doesn’t simply override the classes of the core button block: it creates its own button block with its own classes.

So yes, it is possible that you may need to replace each button you created with Spectra with the core button block if you want to uninstall the plugin and do everything with Gutenberg.

In the meantime, try going to Spectra > Settings and enable the ‘Button – Inherit From Theme’ option. This should ensure that the buttons created with Spectra inherit their styles from those of the active theme. Maybe this can make transition less urgent/painful…

Again, I may be wrong. I suggest to seek help in their support forum. In my (limited) experience, the Brainforce team has always been very helpful.

Hey @cp_so. Thanks for the suggestions. I sat last night to change the site with Gutenberg blocks. It was painful. That Inherit from Theme did not work. I had tried that already. Also this could be a rant. but I don’t want to seek help from Spectra and Astra people. All I see is a bunch of cunning people who took the opportunity to tap the market of ‘your own website is just one click away’. All these marketing and SEO to keep their products on the top of the Google search. I have never used WordPress, I already have one more shopify website, but people saying that it is so flexible and shit, got me in. True, it is flexible, but upto a point where a non-coder like me would be limited to fall for such products.
Since my, first time using Gutenberg and Bootstrap, it is way easier to use than Spectra and Astra combined.

All this money spent on selling a freemium and its marketing, instead of actually creating a product that really helps the community.
Shopify has a much transparent community relative to how WordPress is performing now, because of trends set by Brainforce and other big players followers.
It makes me puke now everytime I come across a guy with a purple background or any UI that uses purple as their accent.
Being from a design background. I see what they are trying to do in their settings menu UI and customize tab UI for Astra.

    It just is disgusting.

You may be a bit harsh on Astra & Co., but I totally understand your frustration. I think the challenge, when starting with WordPress and navigating the surrounding ecosystem, is also learning to understand what we truly need and how much of our site’s functionality we’re willing to tie to the installation of a certain plugin. There’s a learning curve for this as well – at least, there was for me. Don’t let this first experience discourage you. 🙂
