Users loggin on being redirected to /wp-admin

This morning I started getting reports that when users would log in to the site, they were being redirected to /wp-admin rather than the page set in Settings -> Reading.

I tried re-saving the Settings -> Reading, and I tried changing the settings there to something else. All to no avail.

I also have BuddyBoss installed as a plugin and a theme. The BuddyBoss plugin has a login redirection setting. This setting was set to default which should pick up the setting from the Reading page. When I change it to an explicit setting (like the page that should be my home page) users land on the home page as expected when logging in.

I checked the logs from overnight and no plugins updated and nothing unusual recorded.
