• Images are all stopping at the ‘crunching’ stage and plugins are stopping halfway through downloading (with some plugins makes it through this stage and gets stuck at the next one).

I am running two WordPress pages (on two seperate databases) on the same server, one works absolutely fine, but this one is broken as described above (although the front end of the site appears fine).

Can anyone help? Google is not giving out much help on this one…

    Thanks

  • Is your site new or old? If it’s new could possibly be a permissions error.

With regard to the uploader stopping on ‘crunching’, there is a sticky post in this forum as lots of people have trouble with that. Have you tried the normal uploader, or just the advanced one?

Brand new yes, I did think that it might be something to do with permissions. Though having said that, I was able to upload things earlier today, and cant think that anything has changed since then.

Aha, the normal uploader works ok, should of tried that before.

Still got this problem with the plugins though :-/

It may simply be that WP are experencing some problems/high volume of traffic with there site, or perhaps even with the server it is hosted on. I’d leave it a short while and try again, but if the other site, hosted on the same server, is working fine then I’d say you are looking at external factors rather than WP.

I am having the same problem. I can upload into the media library, but if I try to insert an image into a post, or for example, upload image into the wp-cycle plugin, it comes to dead stop.

We’ve hosted the wordpress installation at 1&1 hosting. I’ve checked permissions to the wp-content/uploads directory and verified that it is Read|Write|Execute.

Any other ideas of what it could be?

    Mine is 1&1 also…

DJ, did you have to contact 1X1? I’m still having problems so nothing has changed. Any other suggestions of what to check other than permissions? Any/all advice appreciated.

    Hello

No, I have gotten no further with this and its still not working 🙁

Weirdly, I’m also noticing that I cannot update the header image of my site, the image uploads, but I am left with a blank screen. The image shows up in the media library when I look for it but the actual image which loads when I browse my site will remain as it was previously.
