getting an error messege when installing plugins

    I just installed the new version of wordpress.
    Whenever I am trying to install a plugin, I get this messege

    kPicasa Gallery requires PHP version 5 or greater. You are running PHP version 4.4.9

    Not sure where the problem is.

    Can someone help me figure this out.
