WordPress 3.0.1. very slow

    Hi,
    I’m using the latest version of WordPress and the admin portion of the site takes minutes to load (I timed it). The “front-facing” site is just fine (http://annasrecipebox.com/), the pages load quickly. It’s when I’m trying to add a new post or edit an existing one or do anything else on the admin side of WordPress where things are really slow.
    I tried turning off the plug-ins but things were equally slow. I searched the forum for more information but it didn’t seem applicable to my situation. Is there a setting/configuration I need to modify? I’m new to WordPress.org so I’m not sure what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
