I installed WP successfully but messed up some files and decided to delete and start again. I have tried several times and it will not re-install WP for me…I get this message:

The installation can not be completed:

    – You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.

I even tried to delete the domain from the server and started again from there but still the same message.

    Can anyone help please?

  • If you do not have anything posted then you delete all wordpress files and folders and then try and install.

Using filezilla ftp you need to delete .htaccess and do not log in cpanel as that will create .htaccess file as you log in.

I need to learn WP too, it doesn seem quite complicated

ok…problem solved by live chat with Hostgator who host my domain. The guy there was very helpful and cleared the problem for me there and then. Apparently, Fantastico (program I used to install WP from my domain manager)can be confused when deleting files.
    Thanks for all your comments.
