• We launched our site on Monday, https://lynneredmond.com. The second day it was live, we were feverishly making improvements and corrections, many in the FSE editor. Midday the site got very slow. The host had to stop processes to get it running properly again. He said we’d made 40 more process requests than allowed. I’m trying to understand the source(s) of this. We have animations running throughout. We also have an Etsy store sync to our WooCommerce store. I have a question in to them about the Etsy syncing. My question here is, how much bandwidth does the Full Site Editor use up and is there a way to manage that usage to avoid any problems like we just had? Or should I just kiss it up to God as a launch hiccup that won’t occur ongoing?

I just ran a page speed insight at 8:30 AM and it scored 97% on desktop, and 81% on mobile. I need to understand better how much the page speed relates to the issues that occurred on Tuesday. The host techie also directed me to a plugin that would allow me to adjust the WordPress heartbeat. I have no idea what speed would be correct for what I’m running. Do you have any opinions on that?

  • Hi @keress 👋

Any host should be able to support the Site Editor and the WordPress heartbeat. Based on your explanation I’d perhaps investigate any site logs to look at Etsy synching traffic, as that seems like the kind of thing that could more easily overload a server. Maybe that plugin has a rate-limiter to avoid using too many requests too quickly.

The Site Editor should not be adding much overhead to your site unless hundreds or thousands of people are working in it at the same time. It looks like there’s also a caching plugin installed; you may want to double-check that it’s not attempting to rebuild the site cache every time you make edits in the Site Editor. If that’s the case, you might consider disabling the caching plugin while you make a burst of edits and then reactivate it afterwards, ensuring that it rebuilds its index.
