I notice that email notifications for received orders are never received on Gmail.com addresses. Why is this happening, and how can it be resolved?

From what I understand, you’re having an issue with receiving order email notifications on Gmail.com addresses, and you’re seeking a solution to this problem. Let’s work through a few potential solutions to help resolve this issue.

Firstly, please ensure that you have the most recent version of WooCommerce installed. Updates often contain bug fixes that could solve your current issue.

Secondly, it’s possible that the emails might have been directed to your spam folder. We recommend checking this folder to see if the order notifications have ended up there.

Thirdly, it’s important to verify your email settings within WooCommerce. Make sure that the email address set up in your WooCommerce settings is correct. You can do this by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.

If you’ve double-checked all of these and are still encountering issues, we suggest installing the WP Mail Logging plugin. This tool allows you to keep track of all emails sent from your WordPress site, which can provide valuable information if your emails aren’t getting through.

Once you’ve got the WP Mail Logging plugin installed and activated, you can access the log by heading to your WordPress dashboard and clicking on ‘WP Mail Logging‘ in the left-hand menu. This will give you a detailed rundown of all the emails sent from your site.

Please keep an eye on this log while you carry out a few test orders and let us know about anything unusual you notice. This could be error messages or indications of failed email sends.

For more assistance, feel free to check out our guide on 👉 ‘Resolving Common Email Issues‘. It’s packed with detailed steps on how to troubleshoot common email problems.

Lastly, to help us better understand the issue, could you provide us with a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find this by going to WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. If there are any fatal error logs, you can find them under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you have this information, please paste it inside a Code block in your response, or use https://pastebin.com to paste it and share the link with us.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation as we work through this together!

Hello, thank you for all these details, and I had indeed already looked into this and installed the WP Mail Logging plugin. I will try to switch to a dedicated SMTP like Mailjet to see if the issue persists.

    Hi @mmathieuc

I had indeed already looked into this and installed the WP Mail Logging plugin. I will try to switch to a dedicated SMTP like Mailjet to see if the issue persists.

Thank you for your swift response and for taking the time to install the WP Mail Logging plugin. It’s excellent to see that you’re being proactive in trying to resolve this issue.

Switching to a dedicated SMTP like Mailjet might indeed help resolve the issue as it can provide more reliable email delivery. This is because SMTP servers are specifically designed to send emails, so they are less likely to be flagged as spam compared to regular WordPress emails.

Once you’ve set up Mailjet, please continue to monitor your email notifications and let us know if you notice any improvement or if the issue persists. If the problem continues, we may need to delve deeper into your site’s settings and configuration to identify the cause.

Remember, you can check the WP Mail Logging plugin to see if the emails are being sent out correctly from your site. If they are, but you’re still not receiving them in your Gmail inbox, it may be an issue with Gmail’s filters or settings.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further help. We’re always here to assist you!

The problem was indeed that WordPress blocks emails from unrecognized SMTP servers. By using SendinBlue, I was able to receive order notification emails. Problem solved, thank you.
