If by “in group” you mean something close to 99% of the people who have ever posted here, than yeah, I’d say that’s true.
Considering a large majority of WordPress users do not post by email, and so most would not have come across these problems, would it be preferred to receive several dozen “Don’t know what the issue could be, sorry!” replies from the volunteers here when they don’t have an answer to provide? Sorry, but I’m just looking to clarify the point.
O_o
It’s very, very easy to feel as though your questions are ignored here – I’ve had that expereince more than once, but you also have to understand the scale of the forum – many users, very few VOLUNTEER support staff. No one is paid here to help, and they’re all human. As soon as you make apost for support, you will find about 20 other topic will bump yours to the bottom of the ladder.
What you can do is give someone a chance to answer it, if not then bump after a day or so and hope that someone answers. Make your questions concise and to the point, and not too long. As I said, I understand the problem, but you also have to be realistic. Many questions are often already answered; though if you have something new or a variant to ask then certainly do. I tend to ask questions, trying not to wait on support to answer and try to find the answers myself, not always, but I try.
I’m far from being elite, I’m still learning, but here you have to push for naswers sometimes and make yourself heard – if your post is on page two, its unlikely people will try to find it but I think many do see to check if any 0 reply posts have been made and try to answer it if they know it.
Failing that use the search or the codex and if you still don’t have yoru answer, ask again and make a new post. I also felt an air of elitism, snobbery and group patting sometimes, but once I understood how the forum worked it’s made it easier to accept that this is not the case (though there are one or two snobs on this forum, they aren “official” staff).
Good luck
And the use of sarcasm just has this wierd effect of stopping me in my tracks when thinking about helping. Odd that.
Serious Apologies to all for the scarasm… But, do you also note that it is “odd that” I got very lengthy and and actually quite supportive comments on the post… but still have zero response on tracking down the ill behaving function that is supposed to be part of the WordPress system? As for “stopping you in your tracks”, I respectfully and quite seriously ask “what then stopped you from helping the first time I asked for help”
From the perspective of someone new to this software I got very limited if any support from the ‘support’ system and even had another user leave a ‘comment’ on my blog relating to that format problem because the test posts by mail were left of the blog.. I had left them there specifically to aid anyone that took the time to help me …. instead I got a “me too.. I have the same problem” from someon else that evidently had a simular problem with getting help. If I personally knew enough to help anyone I would be glad to chime in and offer suggestions… unfortunately I am the proverbial newbie and just don’t know enough yet to help anyone.
I take the point on limited attention span/visible length of my post for support and will try to repost when I get no answer after a few days and still need help…. I thought that would be rude is why I hadn’t done it before.
I actually dropped the “post by email” for now. I wanted to be able to use it to post from a cell phone but was testing this mode out to see if it even worked worth pursuing.
Thank you one and all for the response…. you took the time.

Glad you came back 🙂
Your original post – I do not recall it but I have just looked at it.
From my point of view, i still would not have answered it – I can’t.
I don’t post by email (I did it once in WP 1.x just to see if I could then just left it) and I don’t use OE.
Because we rely on volunteers, and because the world isn’t as Mr Gates would dearly wish it to be, if someone has a problem, then the only people who can provide an answer are those that have the same setup as you, and have had the same problems and have come here and found your post. That’s a lot of ‘and’.
Do we want your issue to remain unsorted ? No, not at all.
How can we try to help ? Partly by asking you to give us as much information as possible, and in fairness, us asking you for more clarification.
Moblogging (as is your want) is not a topic that is well covered here though – I have no idea why.
If you can check your unanswered posts and think what information you could add (screenshots of the issue ? phone type ? different email clients you have tried / could try) then that might help.
In the end though – and I hope it is not in your case – some questions do go unanswered. There just are not enough of us here typing into the “Reply” boxes 🙂
F’jarr Foss, not being one that tends towards the PC state of mind I suggest your delusional.
Do a search using “newbie” or its many variants. You will discover you part of a group (with an unanswered question) that is about 1/10th of 1 percent of all questions asked.
Try that with service at Wal-Mart, and they make 10 dollars an hour.
