You can grab previous versions of the plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack-boost/advanced/
The way scores were calculated wasn’t changed in the last release, so going back to the previous one probably won’t change it. It may well have been network issues that caused the drop in scores.
Hmm, thanks for getting back to me. I have run it several times today but the score does not improve back up to the 98 that it had been sitting at. Also it appears to continually score lower on the desktop figure which just doesn’t make sense as the only change was the update.
The only saving grace is that when I check the site with Page Insight Speed everything seems to be working well. Both mobile and desktop are showing in the 90 to 100 range.
Was the score always 98? Even after refreshing it, in the past? I find the score can go up and down when I refresh the score on my own sites. Not usually by large amounts. The scores are a good indication that I’m doing things right.
The score was always in the middle to high 90s for mobile and high 90s desktop.
I have just deactivated Jetpack at the moment as I am looking at some advice I received re a possible issue with CLS – see below.
*** CLS happens when “data” the browser requires to render the page correctly is either a ) Not available such as a missing width attribute on an image or b) is late loaded such as CSS Style or Font.In this case it looks to be the latter causing the issue. ie. the styles for the GB blocks is being loaded after the page has first been rendered.
If you check the Thumbnails in the filmstrip on the Pagespeed report you will see the images are really large occupying a single column. And later the columns are loaded.
So the issue comes from whatever optimization / cache plugins you’re using. Debug by temporarily disabling any plugins that “optimize” the site. Wait a while before retesting on Pagespeed as Google or in between server may have cached your page. ***
Donncha, just to let you know I have just re-run the PageSpeed Insights with Jetpack deactivated and the performance scores have increased to Mobile 94 and Desktop 96.
All the other scores are 100.
