Both of those links work fine as far as I can tell.
yes the links I posted work but
Link A – when viewing the page, I can click all other links no problem.
Link B – I can view the post ok, but then I click on any other link, I get page cannot be displayed 🙁 and If I am getting it, I am sure others are too.
I have also recently round that soemtimes my theme disapears too and the page looks more like a mobile view.
That sounds like a server issue. And your link problem could be coming from the same issue. Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and deleting/renaming your WordPress .htaccess file. If this works, set a custom permalink structure back up again and check the links. If they start failing again, contact your hosts.
ok Step1. I have reset teh permalinks to the default and it all works 🙂
will update soon on the rest 🙂
🙂 ok now Im getting somewhere 🙂
setting the permalinks to default gives me exactly what I want, all links work and I have no problems 🙂 BUT i would like to use prettylinks
I backedup the .htaccess file and then deleted it, I set my permalinks back up /%category%/%postname% and links still seem to work.
The only problem I have now is that I cannot link to an individual post, I will soon be start reviewing bands on teh site and I would like bands to be able to link directly to the post rather than the post getting lost as new posts take over.
What should I try next ?
ok.. found out why I couldnt access the individual post. I forgot to end my permalink structure with /
Now its just back to square 1. Links on the main site work fine, but when linking to an individual post, the links on that page do not work.
I will have a word with my host company but doubt I will get anywhere. I have set the permalinks to default. Its not ideal but everything works.
Thanks Esmi 🙂 – If you have any other ides, let me know
I’m having a similar problem and I’ve looked through the forums for an answer with no success.
The problem is when I add a post to http://www.nancyalvarezwrites.com/category/newsletter/ the link in the body of the post doesn’t work. The text “First blast from the Nancy Alvarez newsletter, April 18, 2011” should be a link but it only works if you click on the post title link and get to the http://www.nancyalvarezwrites.com/little-nancy-blast/ page. I don’t mind if the title is a link I just want the link to work in the body of the post.
I think it’s a permalink issue but I’m not sure how to resolve it. Can I change the permalink settings to default for this one case or will it effect all links sitewide?
