  • Hey @forthepleasureofeating, thanks for letting us know about your problem. The good news is that you can configure it in your Discussion Settings.

Make sure ‘Users must be registered and logged in to comment‘ is not checked, and your readers will not have to be WordPress.com members to comment.

If you leave ‘Comment author must fill out name and e-mail’ checked, they do not need to be WordPress.com members, but they’ll have to submit to you a name and email along with their comment. But if you’re okay with people commenting anonymously, you can also uncheck that.

I hope to have helped — have a great blogging.

    Hi Henrique,

Thanks a ton for your quick response and I see you actually tried and left a like.
The settings you mention are unselected since yesterday. That was the first thing I found when looking for answers. She still is unable to like or login.

Was just trying to add screenhots she sent me here, but can’t find the option to do so unless I have link. But they are only on my desktop.

NB: this post has been heavily edited.

… and I see you actually tried and left a like

    That would be me 😀

Yes, I just tested the comment form on the “Tiramisu Protein Oats Two Ways” post on your site: I was able to leave a comment (currently awaiting meditation) without any prompt to login.

She still is unable to like or login.

The “Like” is not a feature provided by WordPress software (aka WordPress.ORG). This feature comes from the JetPack plugin you’re using (developed by the folks at WordPress.COM), which requires a WordPress.COM account to use.

This explains why your visitor is being asked to login to “Like” your post.

There’s unfortunately, no way around this… as, again, this is something provided by the JetPack/WordPress.COM folks.

But your visitors should be able to leave a comment without any prompt to login, as I just did.

If your visitors are still seeing the prompt to login before they can leave a comment, please provide a FULL-PAGE screenshot to help us better understand what’s happening. Upload your screenshot here https://snipboard.io/ and add the link in your reply.

    Standing by.

Thanks again for your super fast responses. Below the two screenshots.
The first is right when she clicks “like”, the second when she tries to “Continue with Google”. I did a cache kill, just to be sure, she tried again, same thing.

Apologies…I read your response wrong. I need more coffee! I misread the “like” part from jetpack!
I’ll ask her to try and see how that goes. Thanks again.

Ok so back with this information:
She is unable to see the option to even comment. She only sees your like, not your comment. I wonder is that maybe Apple blocking stuff in WordPress, since she has an IPhone? But then, I’d hope Apple users could comment too.
    Screenshot of her view below.

@forthepleasureofeating, please, check that your comment block is placed after the “You may also like” block, not right after the “Share/Like,” as shown on the last print.

Let us know if the problem persists.

God, thanks so much, I’m clearly blind!
I’ll see how that goes now.
