What did you exactly do so far?
WordPress is script and you need to set it up the way you want.
Once you have learned how to use the script or program like you learned how to use windows its very easy to manage your website/blog take you seconds to create pages or post if you using wordpress as blog.
You can use wordpress as a website.
ok so far downloaded and unzipped – cannot find – program to launch – tried the first steps thing about a config editing thing but it made no sense-
Originally I made a blog in iweb but that develpoped a sfwordprocessing fault and although I could get it working again every time i tried to access the blog domain it faulted and I have since managed to overwrite my web site which I used idisk to host and my domain pointed to that. so far none of the instructions seem to gel – do I need this cpanel thing?/
I just expected a app that I could launch…help a bit more please.
You need to read this as it will explain the requirements
to use wordpress.

OK have read but I am not on a host
How do I find out if I have PHP and Msql?
What app do I use to launch? still not clear.
I am sorry to be so frustrating but Mac is supposed to be easier!!!
OK have read but I am not on a host
How are you running the website.
Php is server language used to write wordpress files Msql ia database program two different programs and to run wordpress need to have both. Your database is in msql somewhere
Mac is computer program like windows
still do not understand what I need to do to create a web site in WordPress – I am starting as if I never ever had a web – all I have is my registered web address.
Still cannot find the application to run….
assuming that I wanted to try and tap into the old iweb files – is this what you are talking about?
user/library/sites
still what do I run to get there??
First, read through this:
http://codex.wordpress.org/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start
Now, as detailed in the above article, WordPress requires a server environment to run. In other words, you need to either sign up with a hosting provider (some recommended here) and install WordPress, or you need to setup a local server environment on your computer.
thank you all for your good natured advice it is very much appreciated – I will learn and succeed….
