problem with html tables / alignment within wordpress

On my site, I want to list record label releases info with a small bit of art in a nice and neat in a table.

I pasted a simple html table code to my wordpress which looks fine on an html page but in word press it comes out messed up with images in left column higher than the text in right column.

Also it spaces each line of text out instead of just the next line.

I will be updating this page every 2 weeks, so the easiest method for me is to edit in dreamweaver and paste the new table in.

i suspect it is somehting in css styles i need to fix rather than the html?
