I am sorry, but as normally indicated by Media Cleaner (in the Dashboard), Divi is only handled by the Pro Version – it requires a lot more technical checks.
Hey Jordy, ok. I found that hint already, got the pro version and scanned again (media and contenet – took a while). This time seems like it has worked fine. Now I get an server error message when trying to delete the files. I autoretried, plugin froze and after having scanned the whole night scan result was gone after I hit the stop button. I am sure when its working its a great plugin. But gives me somewhat of a headache right now… Seems like now I have to do another scan.

What kind of error did you get? If you have that chance, check your PHP Error Logs to know exactly what happens.
Media Cleaner doesn’t have known bugs as of today, but since it’s a very intense process that uses more or less everything you have in WP, sometimes the hosting services cut the requests, times them out, etc (and there is no way around it, except talking with them ; on my side, I try to propose to re-try, but it’s all I can do).
You absolutely need to run the process until the end 🙂
Hi Jordy, there are various error messages also throughout the scan (PHP message: Media Cleaner: Could not find attached file for Media ID 59816′, referer) but the one that happened when it froze must have been this one: AH01797: client denied by server configuration: /kunden/*******/webseiten/karmasurfretreat/.git
I know, its a shared hosting and probably on the lower end in terms of server performance. I already ran into major issues (server time out (error 524)) when trying to import the database backup with phpmyadmin. I set the max_filesize to 512, the php_memory to 256 (maybe thats not enough??) – any other suggestions on minimum requirements in terms of settings?

Those errors (actually warnings) are extremely weird; they should not happen. Looks like the DB has some issues; some entries should be there, but they aren’t.
Something I realized is that you might be using some performance plugin. Do you? If yes, absolutely disable it, especially with Media Cleaner. You really need fresh results, and you need to have proper execution of each action.
I am using autoptimize and wprocket. You mean disable it during the scan (~2hrs) or sufficient to disable when trying to clean?
This website is online 13 years with some relaunch and lots of installing and deinstallings plugins – so yes. chances are the db is corrupt at some point.
This time, when trying to clean the files I only chose 100, but at 20% server times out/closes connection.
Will try with less now. Its just that the plugin found over a 1000 files not associated…;-)
Before I could try deleting less at a time, I had to get out of the 100-one. So I skipped every 20% until it was done. Plugin told me that the process finished but had 5 errors. Unfortunately the list with the scan-results is empty again. So here we go for another 2hrs of scan. 😐
I have written an article about why not using WP Rocket, here: https://meowapps.com/do-not-use-wp-rocket/. I don’t like to do this, but it has to be said and done 🙂 We are so many developers to wonder why so many people are using performance plugins. Way too many troubles, unfortunately.
Absolutely disable those plugins, and reset all your caches, your own browser included (because those plugins also force caching on your local – which leads to more issues).
Run the whole process again, on a non-cached website, to get proper results. I hope it will go well 🙂
Also: don’t skip anything. The whole install needs to be analyzed! It’s really important. Of course, once the results are here, you can delete the results little by little, that’s totally okay.

But again, I can totally see and understand your frustration helping people with little developer knowledge playing with tools they dont understand and expect you to solve everything with the blink of an eye. 😉 Patience though, AI will probably change a lot and make us all good developers pretty soon. 😉
This time (with wprocket, autoptimize and apcu manager deactivated) I chose to only delete the first 50 items. This time there was no prompt of server error, but when process was finished the scanned list was again empty and “trash” did not show any items (neither did “references” nor “issues”).

Wait, maybe they are not found, because they actually dont exist anymore, because I actually did delete some files in one of the first runs (non-pro-version).
Just why do they show up in the scan then – because of activated perfomance plugins back then?
Maybe trying the file system scan is the way to go then?
