Custom sidebar

Hi All,

I was wondering if there was anyway of controlling where the side bar starts, the site has an image rotator and a side bar before content in use. Everytime I implement a primary sidebar it starts underneath the nav menu, is there anyway to get the sidebar just to fit the same are of the content?

Any help would be great
