• I moved 10 of my 11 multi-sites over to a new host but for several reasons, I kept one of my sites behind and on the old host kind of on an island on its own.

Problem is that it wasn’t my main or first site, it was one of the sub-sites mapped in.

This isn’t a big deal but now the main domain on the hosting account now forwards over to the site on the new hosting account when typed in directly. Can I change the site that was left behind to a ‘primary’ or default site in the multi-site set-up?

Yeah, you should be able to do that via the site options settings. There’s a field for main blog, IIRC and change that to the blog number you want to be main. You may also need to change the man blog in the wp-config file.

Cool, yup, just went into wp-config and changed the domain name and we were good to go!

FYI, when (if) you add in new subsites to your site, you may find the wp_sites table needs manual massaging. If you add a new subsite and it’s missing from your list of sites in the wp-admin section, check that table. There’s one field that, IIRC, doesn’t always get updated ‘right’…

Ok, so I’m going to sound like a big dummy here …

What is IIRC? I didn’t change the blog number as stated I had to above, I just changed the site name to the new domain name in wp-config.php but now I am getting unknown logout/in key, which I’m guessing is because I didn’t IIRC?

    Thanks!

Lol, is there a field to enter in the main blog number?

I ended up blogging about the insanity I went though: http://code.ipstenu.org/dig-yourself-out-of-a-hole-multisite-edition/

    It may help you.
