Anyone else tackled this?

So, I’ve needed an elegant solution to this problem for, well, at least a decade. I’ve gotten sort of close using ChatGPT, but not quite.

It seems like a no-brainer to me that there should be a simple (Preferably native) way in WordPress to set some custom defaults for untitled posts. For example, “generate an 8-word slug from the post content” and “display the pseudo-title followed by an ellipsis in places such as <title> or next/previous links but don’t show them visually on the post page itself”

I’m digging into this old plugin to see if there’s a way to base something on it, but I’m very much not a programmer (hence ChatGPT), but, really, anyone have a comprehensive, elegant solution here?
