I’m using wordpress.org / Kadence / YoastSEO and when viewing my website in google search the site title is listed as a URL and not the title I’ve specified in wordpress/yoast. I’m not talking about the SEO title, I’m talking about he actual site title that goes above that and above the URL on google search. This forum won’t allow me up upload any images so I’m not sure how else to explain this.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @paradiseforpennies

Thanks for reaching out regarding your site name.

By default, the Yoast SEO plugin will use the name of your WordPress site as the website name, as indicated in WordPress > Settings > General. If you want a different name to be displayed in the search results, you can change the site name in the field WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > General > Site Basics > Website name. This will overwrite the default WordPress site name in the structured data code that Yoast SEO outputs for the name of the WebSite.

In addition to controlling the site name, you can also control the output for the alternateName structured data by filling in the “Alternate website name” field. Like name, this is a property of the WebSite structured data. Here, you can enter a (potentially shorter) alternate name for your website. You can read more here.

I ran the homepage URL through Google’s rich result test tool, and the Yoast SEO plugin outputs the necessary schema required by Google. See screenshot.

You may post a question in the Google Search Central Help Community regarding this.

To share a screenshot in the future, you can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

    Thanks for your reply @maybellyne

All info was already added via the Yoast plugin settings.

On the backend, this is how the yoast plugin shows my website will appear: https://pasteboard.co/Itjdf93KX5Ky.png

And this is how to currently appears: https://pasteboard.co/EZW2J32TMB3O.png

Not sure what’s causing this error but whatever Yoast is showing is clearly not the case. Any tips?

@maybellyne You can see that even the actual URL below the title is not displayed as the Yoast preview, there must be some disconnection here. It is like this for all pages and posts for my entire website.

As I mentioned previously, the Yoast SEO plugin adds the necessary schema required by Google – Provide a site name to Google Search. But this is not a full-proof guarantee. That’s why I recommended posting a question in the Google Search Central Help Community.
