• Hello,

I am using WPBook 2.0.9.2 with WP 3.0.1 and I have no plugs activated except WPBook. My WP posts do show up on my Facebook Fan Page, but no images or videos are showing up on the wall even though I have them embedded within the WP post. I’ve been testing out posting generic messages while embedding YouTube videos or embedding images from the web, but these media are not displaying.

Although the images do display on the Application tab page, but the video does not unless I click on the title of the post within the Application Tab.

I would like to be able to link to videos from YouTube and images from around the web and highlight them on my blog and Facebook page.

    Any help is appreciated.

That is a correct statement of the current feature set of WPBook.

Facebook only allows FBML in excerpts posted to the wall. Plain text only – no html.

WPBook will take the first image attached to a post and use that as an “attachment” to the FBML it posts to the wall, but images in the post body will get stripped.

WPBook would have to translate the embedded video into an FLV object and attach that full flash move to the post – which would require specific support for different embed mechanisms. (FB doesn’t allow object or embed tags in wall posts).

In other words, this is unlikely to change any time soon.

Thank you for the response. Perhaps you can provide some additional direction?

On the WPBook.net blog there is a reference to MommyKnows http://tinyurl.com/2cvdzuk and I can see that she is updating her facebook wall with WP posts. Most interesting is that the images she is embedding in her WP posts are from flickr.

Can you please educate me as to how this is working? I am embedding images from the web into my WP Posts and the images are not displaying on the FB Wall.

It looks like the images in the MommyKnows parent blog use flickr but the ones in the wall view are using the WP Uploads function. I’m not sure if she is using a plugin or custom fields or what though.

    Hope this sorta helps.

As I said, if you attach an image to a blog post using the “add new image” button in the WordPress editing screen, it will get posted to the wall with the excerpt.

Not in the place inline with the content where you put it in the post, but as an “attachment” to the post.

The problem is that you are embedding them, but not “attaching” them in WordPress speak, as described here

I’m having a similar problem. I have WPBook installed and it posts the excerpts to my facebook wall seamlessly but images don’t appear. I am adding the images with the ‘add new image button’ in the editing screen but nothing shows up.

Can a custom field be included in the post whose value is the URL of the image to be attached?

Additionally, is there a way to have highslide images form part of the facebook post?

    thanks for your help

Facebook limits what can be done in wall posts – you can attach and image to a post (as WPBook does) but not multiple images, etc.

But with iFrame-based tabs (coming in 2.1) you will get more control over what you see in the tab view – still won’t get what you are looking for in the wall post though.

(Not sure if Notes offer more flexibility? Will have to investigate that).
