    Hi,

I recently noticed that the products that were removed from WooCommerce are still shown on Instagram shop and when a user opens the product by clicking ‘View on website’ on Instagram it goes to the website and an error 404 is shown as it’s no longer available on the website.

I tried manually syncing the products via the Facebook plugin on WooCommerce and that didn’t help.

Is there any other way that I can remove the products from Instagram shop and Facebook catalog?

  • Hi @minhazmohamed

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are experiencing a problem where products removed from your WooCommerce store are still being displayed on your Instagram shop.

It seems that there may be an issue with the synchronization between your WooCommerce store and your Instagram/Facebook catalog. Since you have already tried manually syncing the products using the Facebook plugin on WooCommerce without success, I would like to suggest a few alternative steps to resolve this issue.

    1. Clear cache: Sometimes, cached data can cause synchronization issues. Please clear the cache of your website and then try syncing the products again.
    2. Update plugins: Ensure that all your plugins, especially the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, are up to date. Outdated plugins can cause compatibility and synchronization issues.
    3. Reconnect Facebook: Disconnect your Facebook account from the WooCommerce plugin and then reconnect it. This can help reset the connection and resolve any existing issues.
    4. Manually remove products from Facebook catalog: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you can try manually removing the products from your Facebook catalog.

Please note that it may take some time for the changes to reflect on your Instagram shop after following these steps.

If you still face any issues after trying the above steps, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Thanks!

Hi @xue28, thank you for your response. I shall try the above steps, although the plugin was updated to its latest version before I tried to manually sync.

Hi @xue28, when you said reconnect Facebook as your 3rd suggestion, did you want me to ‘Disconnect’ and reconnect from here: https://prnt.sc/29oB7FkHddIJ (link to the screenshot I took from Facebook for WooCommerce)? If we do that, would that affect the Instagram shop negatively from the moment I disconnect till I reconnect?

    Hi @minhazmohamed

Yes, based on your screenshot, you are in the correct section for disconnecting and reconnecting Facebook for WooCommerce. To address your concern about the Instagram shop, temporarily disconnecting and reconnecting your Facebook account may cause a brief interruption in the connection between your WooCommerce store and Instagram shop. However, this should not have a lasting negative impact on your Instagram shop.

Here are the detailed steps to follow when reconnecting Facebook:

    1. Visit the Facebook for WooCommerce settings page (as shown in your screenshot).
    2. Click the Disconnect button to disconnect your Facebook account from WooCommerce.
    3. Once disconnected, you may need to clear your browser cache to ensure a fresh connection.
    4. Click the Connect button to reconnect your Facebook account to WooCommerce. You will be prompted to log in to your Facebook account and grant the necessary permissions.
    5. After reconnecting, you may need to reconfigure your product sync settings and possibly resync your products to ensure they are up to date on both Facebook and Instagram.

Please note that while the connection is reestablished, there might be a brief period where your Instagram shop may not display your products correctly. However, once the reconnection and resync process is complete, your Instagram shop should return to normal functionality.

    Hope this helps!

Hi @xue28, yes it does. Quick thing, the reconfiguration of the product sync settings is this right: https://prnt.sc/sHzTY-I23PJL?

Hey, @xue28 Just a quick thing. The products get added to the Instagram shop when they are added to WooCommerce, so if I reconnect the Facebook page it should do the job mostly, right?

    Hello @minhazmohamed,

Hey, @xue28 Just a quick thing. The products get added to the Instagram shop when they are added to WooCommerce,

I assume you mean if the products are added to Facebook. If you have synced your Facebook catalogue with an Instagram Business Account, then yes, the products should also be synced on Instagram.

However, the extension is primarily designed to sync with the Facebook catalogue. If your target audience is mainly on Instagram, I suggest checking out the WooCommerce Instagram extension. :‎)

Just a quick note, all extensions sold on WooCommerce.com have a 30-day refund policy so if the product doesn’t work the way you need it or you think another product would work better, we are more than happy to provide a full refund.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi @xue28 unfortunately reconnecting Facebook didn’t work.

@babylon1999 Hey, I did mean Facebook catalog that syncs to Instagram shop.

I can see that someone has started another thread about this issue as well. Could I please get more suggestions on how we can fix this?

    Thank you.

    Hi @minhazmohamed

Thanks for sharing the requested information above.

I understand that after reconnecting your Facebook account, the issue still persists.

Can you please try to delete all products from your Facebook Catalog, then try another product sync afterwards and see if this works?

Otherwise, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Thanks!

Hi @xue28, weirdly when I tried to delete the products from the Facebook catalog (I tried it thrice) it didn’t remove all the items from the Instagram shop. Am I missing something? Here are the logs: https://gist.github.com/MinhazI/19f97d694effb09836210beaac4badd2

    Hello @minhazmohamedk,

I can see some failed delete API requests starting from this line. The error also contains the product IDs so you can check if the products are actually the ones affected.

As the error suggests the problem is because the product does not exist, cannot be loaded due to missing permissions, or does not support this operation.

I suggest starting by making sure you have full permissions as mentioned in this guide.

Also, may I ask how these products were deleted? Was it through the WooCommerce REST API/a service that depends on it, or via the “All Products” dashboard?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hello @babylon1999,

    Thank you for your reply.

I attempted to remove all the products from the Facebook catalog from the debug options suggested by @xue28. I trust that the account used in this process has the necessary permissions.
