We often use Complianz together with Google Maps. While this works totally fine, the cookie banner does not show any information on this. There might be a “statistics” or “marketing” category. But there is no information on embedded maps. How would I add this to the info box? This is not a problem at all, if the page with the map is visited directly. Users will immediately see the placeholder text. However, if users visit a page without a map, they simply won’t understand that they give their consent for loading maps. Don’t get me wrong, I couldn’t care less about this annoying topic. But unfortunately, we have to deal with these stupid regulations.

    Thank you!

    Hi @cutu234,

With Consent per Service enabled (Wizard > Consent > Services), Complianz will list the ‘toggles per service’ that can be used to granularly consent to individual services, on the Cookie Policy.

You could additionally use the Category description fields under Complianz > Cookie Banner > Categories to list the services that will load as a result of consenting to a certain category, e.g. Marketing.

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi Jarno,
I’ve just enabled consent per service, but nothing changed in the cookie banner. In the service descriptions only Google Tag Manager has a green checkmark. The service “Google Maps” shows a red “X”. Obviously, I am missing something here. I restarted the cookie-scan, but nothing changed.

    Thank you!

    Hi @cutu234,

Indeed, as mentioned; this won’t change in the Cookie Banner itself when doing so, as the service consent toggles will be displayed on the Cookie Policy document.

And you will be able to manually list the services that you’ve classified under the categories (i.e. Statistics/Marketing) by using the Description fields under Complianz > Cookie Banner > Categories.

    Kind regards, Jarno

Sorry, I am usually not THAT slow, but I still don’t get it. There is now a new category “Preferences” showing. However, I have no idea what exactly is toggled. If I don’t give my consent for this category, the map is still loaded. If I reject all cookies, the map is not loaded. How would I connect the service “Google Maps” to a category that can be toggled in the cookie banner? Right now, Maps is activated by either “Statistics” or “Marketing” which doesn’t make sense at all to me. Google Tag Manager is loaded even if I give my consent only to “Marketing”, but not to “Statistics”. I simply don’t have a clue how I connect a service to a category.

I thought, the missing cookie document page might have been the problem, so I created it. But this page shows exactly the same settings like the cookie banner.

Sorry, but I’m totally lost here. I’m sure that the plugin works totally fine.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi @cutu234,

There is no specific category in the Cookie Banner for Google Maps, therefore I previously described how you can adjust the ‘category description’ manually, whereby you can describe which services would load as a result of consenting to this category.

When using the Complianz’ default Google Maps integration to block the Map (Complianz > Integrations > Services), the Map will be classified as a “Marketing” service.

If you’d rather determine the category yourself, you can use the “Block a script, iFrame or plugin” field (Complianz > Integrations > Script Center) to block the script and determine on which ‘consent category’ (Marketing/Statistics) it should load.

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi Jarno,
unfortunately, it is not working. I activatd Store Locator in Compliance > Integrations > Plugins. I chose then in “Scriptcenter” “Block script, iframe or plugin”, set the URL, where the map is shown and set the category to “Marketing”. Nothing changed. The map is still loaded, even if I do not give my consent to this category. By the way, I can’t choose the third category. It is simply not shown in the scriptcenter.

Sorry to bother you, but I have no clue how this works.

Please notice: I uploaded the updated wp-store-locator.php!

    Hi @cutu234,

As you’re using the Store Locator integration, that would also classify the script under the “Marketing” category.

I must admit that I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to achieve anymore.

Could you explain why describing the services that are included in your Marketing category, under Complianz > Cookie Banner > Categories > Mareketing description does not suffice for this purpose?

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi Jarno,
it’s not about “describing”, it’s about working. If I don’t accept marketing cookies, the map is still loaded. I have to reject ALL cookies to prevent the map from loading. This is not ideal. I can’t get it to work that the map is connected to the marketing category and not the statistics category.

You can easily check for yourself:

Just accept statistics cookies, but not marketing cookies. The map will still load

    Hi @cutu234,

I have visited the page in question, but the Map doesn’t load when I just accept the Statistics category.

You can view this short video as an example: https://i.gyazo.com/fc737b3b2a10af1a384857cd09492a8d.mp4

Ok, that is strange. Please, see my video:

I was not logged in, and all cookies were deleted before testing. How is that possible?

It’s working if all cookies are rejected:

    Hi @cutu234,

Because clicking the “Akzeptieren” button means Accept All. If you only intend to accept the sliders that you have manually selected, you would have to click the “Einstellungen speichern” button instead.

Yikes, I’m getting old. I’m so sorry for wasting your time with my stupidity. 🙂 The good thing is: If even I fail to understand the buttons correctly, most user will fail, too and accept cookies without knowing it. But this was NOT my intention. 🙂

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi @cutu234,

Please don’t worry about it, and please know that you can freely change these button texts (Complianz > Cookie Banner > Banner Settings) to make it more clear what the exact function of the button is. 😉

    Kind regards, Jarno
