I regularly, but not consistently, see a banner that says the last backup may not have completed, and the cron log shows “Error: Could not reach admin-ajax.php address”. However, all the backup files seem to be getting created properly, and I can’t find any ajax related errors in any of the archive logs.

How do I trace and ideally eliminate this apparently bogus error?

  • Hi @saucemaster207,

Thanks for reaching out, I’m thinking it’s possible the auto-generated backup is peaking at some server limitation and restarting itself. It would make sense then to still receive the warning even if the backup eventually completes.

Maybe an increase of server resources would stop the warning from displaying but good news is your backups are still completing so it doesn’t seem to be forewarning any creating issues.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if any issues arise as a result of this warning. We’d be happy to review your logs.

Yeah, I’m comfortable that back ups do eventually complete. However, it would be great if the warning gets removed after a successful backup completes. The message is really noise that could result in complacency. Repetitive warnings are bad because they tend to be ignored/dismissed out of hand, even if there is a real problem. So I guess this is a feature request 🙂

    Hey thanks @saucemaster207,

If we can replicate it we can make a strong case for a feature request so we’ll attempt that on our end. I do believe it’s likely that it’s tied to server resources though so you might want to give that a check.
