This one is weird. I’ve updated the admin address on three websites. Those websites are still sending WordPress Auto Update emails to the old address. I’ve confirmed the email address change and can see it’s changed in the settings. I made this change last week, and the old address got an update email this morning and has had a few since I made the change.

Could this be cached out somewhere? Does it get the target email address directly from the administrators email address?

I’ve just reinstalled WordPress on a Contabo VPS with Cyberpanel control. The website, mustamalconsult.com, had been on since last year. But I shifted control from CWP to Cyberpanel following speed problems. It seemed all went well after the integration; but it later occurred that my site displays the WordPress welcome flag while it shows correctly when shared link is clicked.

If you change the email address, there will be an email sent to your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.

It’s not that. The emails addresses were confirmed on the day they were changed and show it as such in the settings screen. We got some new ones today to the old email address. Is very weird!

Can anyone confirm the process directly takes that email address and not some other database value which has failed to be updated or could be cached?

Talking to Siteground who host the site, they are telling me that update emails go to all administrators which I’m sure isn’t true. (I’d be drowned under spam from 100s of WordPress sites). Can anyone confirm that these update notification emails only go to the Administration Email Address that’s set in Settings? (That’s been my experience right up till this point…)

Figured it out. Old test instance which had picked up email access had started sending them, but person getting them couldn’t tell the difference! Explains why they were complaining about getting so many!
