• I did:
Install a new wordpress site. In general settings, i changed WordPress Address and the Site Address from http://my-site.com to http://www.my-site.com (adding the www)

    I saw: This error message:

Warning: is_writable() [function.is-writable]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/usr/wwws/users/distinki:/usr/www/users/distinki:/usr/home/distinki:/usr/local/rmagic:/usr/www/users/he/_system_:/usr/share/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/share/www) in /usr/www/users/distinki/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 133

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /usr/www/users/distinki/wp-admin/includes/misc.php:133) in /usr/www/users/distinki/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 890

I expected: Things to work fine as I have installed numerous blogs before. The system logged me out, and once logged in again, it all seem to be working fine. Yet I would like to know what is the reason for the error message. And why in the past the www was the automatically?

    regards

There was probably just a brief cache conflict caused by a plugin after making the URL adjustment.

It depends on how you visit the URL when you install WordPress. If you install it via domain.com/wp-admin/install.php (without the www), the blog will set itself to domain.com (without the www).
