• Hi,

I’ve followed advice on WordPress about security and many, many articles on steps you should take.

I’m now looking for a way to secure the site further and with outside security. I have a plugin, but its eating away at the storage (and we can’t change our hosting right now, it’s not an option). I’m therefore looking at security options that aren’t placed in WordPress e.g. no plugins.

I’ve looked at Sucuri, but they have terrible reviews in trustpilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/sucuri.net I have a CDN setup that isn’t cloud flare, but there is domain privacy SSL etc, so don’t need a CDN option.

Can anyone please suggest, from good personal experience, a security software/programmes that aren’t plugins? And ideally with the added benefit of cleaning up malware? I’ve tried online searches but it keeps suggesting plugins, there must be another wordpress security like Sucuri but with better reviews.

    Please can you advise?

  • I use Cloudflare free version and to protect my login and admin page, just enabled Cloudflare Access.

To remove malware you’ve to use the plugin or find the malware manually and removing it maybe takes more time.

Thanks for the suggestion. We can’t really use CloudFlare right now as we have a paid subscription with another CDN, additionally, Cloudflare won’t let us use are own SSL unless we pay for the business option. Maybe next year we can look at Cloudflare. Just looking at other options in the meantime, thanks.
