    Hi you all,

i have a very basic problem with no obvious solution:

i want to regularly announce my upcoming events to subscribers. I already found the option to announce recently created events just by using MailPoet, but that is not exactly what i want because it causes the following problems.

    1) always the same amount of events is displayed, also if there are less than e. g. 5 upcoming events, 5 events are announced (so past events are announced as well)

    2) The events are sorted by creation date, which is completley irrelevant. I want to sort them by event date.

Since i did not find the possibility to do that i purchased the plugin “Event calendar newsletter” which creates a tag MailPoet tag for my upcoming events. I can easiliy insert it and also get the result i wanted. But i have the following problem: I want to notify my subscribers every week about all upcoming events, so i need to send “the same email” every week (which of course is not the same email, but the content is only changed by the tag-representation, the tag itself isnt chaning). I searched everything and could not find the option to do so. Is there any solution to my problem?

It should be very easy: i only want to announce all my upcoming events of a particular category every week.

I am using The Events Calendar

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi there @davidp23,

    Thanks for reaching out!

If I understand what you have in mind correctly, I’m afraid it isn’t possible to set up what you are trying to achieve.

Setting up a weekly email is possible by creating a Post Notification Email. With the Automatic Latest Content Widget that comes with every Post Notification Email it’s also possible to display only new posts/events as it won’t display posts that were sent in previous emails. So your subscribers wouldn’t get repeated content.

However, where MailPoet is not designed to match what you have in mind is this:

The events are sorted by creation date, which is completley irrelevant. I want to sort them by event date.

Indeed, with MailPoet you can only choose to sort the posts that will display in the Automatic Latest Content Widget by Oldest or Newest.

To display the events based on the event date you’d likely need to work on some custom code to integrate the events plugin you are using with MailPoet.

Please note that assistance with custom code like that is outside our scope of support, but if you need help with custom code, we recommend reaching out to someone from Codeable (affiliate link).

    I hope this helps!
