• Hello all

I administrate a list of URLs that spammers use when commenting and posting to forums.

Now I’m looking for someone who can create a plugin that checks my list against whatever a user is trying to post. Then depending on whether it’s on it, disallows the comment from ever being posted (deletes it).

Grez over at PunBB made such a URL Checker for PunBB forums, but I have friends who need this feature on WordPress.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Just go to Settings/Discussion in your admin panel and enter the URL into the “Comment Blacklist” section.

That’s going to be a lot time spent by each admin doing that I reckon. That’s why I wondered if there isn’t a more convenient way to at least import a list?

    The current list has 2500 URLs… 🙂

Not that I know of. Have you tried Akismet yet? It’s quite effective.

Yeah the guy is using that, and it gives him tons of comments to moderate it seems.

Akismet does store spam comments in a queue for 15 days. If he’s referring to actually having to approve or mark comments as spam, make sure that “An administrator must always approve the comment” and “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” are unchecked and let Akismet do all of the hard work.

Ok will check with him and get back on the issue… Thx in the meantime for fast responses.
