Question about customizing the archives display

    I’m looking to customize the archives list so that it displays by the month for the current year, and then simply by year for anything earlier.

    For Example:
    April 2010
    March 2010
    February 2010
    January 2010
    2009
    2008
    2007

    Can anyone provide some guidance on how to go about doing this? Any help/pointers is greatly appreciated.
