Remove / Recover lost shape?
-
Hi there,
I must be missing something simple – how do you remove a shape from a single container without deleting it from the shape panel entirely? The wrench icon opens the options, but I can’t unselect the current shape or remove it just in that context. It seems to be just stuck there once it’s applied (unless you’re lucky enough to have just done it, and then you can undo it).As background, I have premium GeneratePress but free GenerateBlocks. I imported a site from the design library as a starting point. I wanted to remove an angled shape from one spot and add it into an Element instead. I made a backup copy of the page first and then removed the shape from my page using the “X” option and yes, it really did delete it from the shape panel, my bad. It’s still in my backup page version. But it seems to live by itself now apart from the rest of the shape library. In the short term, I can copy that block from the backup page and rebuild it on my real page. But that’s not a long-term solution because I’ll need that shape again later on. More than that, I’m now nervous about how easy it would be for my clients to unintentionally do this same thing and make a necessary asset unavailable forever. The X button inline with the shape seems like it should only remove it from the selected container, and the option to remove it from the entire panel should be somewhere else.
- Is there some way that I can restore the deleted shape? This is a dev site and unfortunately I don’t have a site backup in my local dev from a relevant timeframe.
- Can I re-import the site design from the library without messing up everything I’ve done since then?
- Is the shape removal tied to that page revision, or is it saved outside of that? I was thinking maybe I could try reverting to when I just installed the site design if that would undo it.
- Am I missing the option to remove a shape from a single block to avoid all this in the first place?
Thanks!
